Privacy Policy

This is a small, static informational site. There are no user accounts and no comments section. The only form on the site is the optional email signup in the footer. Here's exactly what does happen when you visit.

Analytics: off by default

We'd like to use Google Analytics (GA4) to see which posts are actually useful, but it only loads if you click "Accept" on the cookie banner. If you decline, or just close the tab without choosing, no analytics script loads and no tracking cookie is set. Your choice is remembered in your browser's local storage so you're not asked again.

When analytics is running, Google Analytics collects standard, aggregate usage data (pages visited, general location at a country/region level, device and browser type) with IP anonymization turned on. We don't combine this with any other data source, and we don't sell it to anyone.

Affiliate links

Some links on this site (to travel eSIM, hotel/flight search, car rental, travel insurance, currency and payment services, name-change services, wedding rings, and outdoor apparel) are affiliate links, marked as such wherever they appear. If you book or sign up through them, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. Clicking one takes you to that company's own site, which has its own separate privacy policy and cookies we don't control.

Email signup

The footer has an optional email signup, if you'd like a copy of the planning checklist or to hear about new country pages. Entering your email submits it directly to our email service provider; we don't store it ourselves or combine it with analytics data. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email we send. We don't sell or share this list with anyone.

What we don't do

• We don't run ads or ad-tracking scripts.
• We don't have user accounts, logins, or a comments system.
• We don't sell or share personal data, whether from the optional analytics above or the optional email signup.

Cookies and local storage

Beyond the optional Google Analytics cookie (only set after you accept), this site uses your browser's local storage for one thing: remembering your cookie-consent choice. You can clear this at any time through your browser's site settings, which will show the consent banner again on your next visit.

Changes to this policy

If what this site collects or how it's used changes, we'll update this page. Since there's no account system to notify you through, check back here if you want the current version.
